My long wait is finally over and I finally got my chance to play some of The Banner Saga. When I clicked on the play button I was greeted by some very beautiful background music and as I took five minutes to explore the main menu and the graphical options available to me. Sadly there were none but this game is stunning and so far the soundtrack is beautiful.
I click on new game and watched as my first main character walked into a room filled with enemies trying to kill someone. I really love the in game cutscenes. Here are a few pictures of them:
The voice acting so far is really good and the gameplay is superb. You really have to use your head and think about every choice you make on the battlefield or you can lose one of your partners forever. So far i’ve been pretty lucky and haven’t lost anyone yet but i’m having a great time playing this game and i can’t wait to jump back in it. The Banner Saga balances good voice acting with excellent dialogue for you to read through. So far i’m very immersed in the game and I’m making each of my decisions very carefully. This is a game that requires quite a bit of reading and if that’s not your thing you might want to avoid this game. The Banner Saga is living up to my expectations so far but i’m only 30 minutes into the game right now. Hopefully I can have the full review of the game up by next week and lets hope that this game continues to deliver the way it has in the first 30 minutes of gameplay.
One thing I think I should mention is that I have been playing this game for 30 minutes and i’ve only gotten into one fight so far. There is a lot of text in this game and so far it’s very story focused and I don’t mind that at all. I’m expecting more combat because i’m chasing some wannabee assassins right now so that should be very interesting.
