Nekojonez was kind enough to nominate me for my very first Blogger Recognition Award!
4 years ago I started this blog. I didn’t have a direction, but I knew I wanted to write things. Over time I’ve managed to snag a bunch of awards from some really great people and I’ve met some great friends here on WordPress.
I would like to thank NekoJonez for nominating me for this award. NekoJonez has a neat gaming blog and has new content rolling out regularly. I recommend following the blog.
Every award comes with it’s own set of rules.
Here are the rules for The Blogger Recognition Award:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
- Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
I already did step number 1, but just in case you missed the link click here to visit NekoJonez’s blog :).
How It All Started…
I started this blog to give myself something to do to keep me out of trouble. I’m not a saint. I’ve done things I’m not proud of, but all of that changed when I met my wife standing outside of a gas station one night. I’ve always loved writing so I decided to start this blog. I have a deep love for The Elder Scrolls so I made that my starting point. When I first started I wrote about Skyrim a lot and I expanded from there.
This hobby turned into much more then just a simple escape from a life of crime. I love it and I plan on sticking around for many more years. I’ve met some incredible people here and I love sharing my opinion on various different subjects with everyone. I don’t really know what else to write after that :).
My Advice To Newcomers…
1. Be Yourself
Don’t try and be someone else when you’re writing because people will pick up on it quickly. The fastest way to get people to notice your blog is by creating original content. I centered my blog around Skyrim. I’ve written well over 1,000 post and a good chunk of them went towards Skyrim and modding in general. That’s what I enjoy to do and I’ve attracted people to my blog that enjoy that kind of stuff too.
If you just post things that I can find over at IGN I won’t bother reading it. Be creative and put your heart into your work and it’ll pay off. We’ve all been where you are right now. Be patient and views will come to you in time.
2. Keep Your Blog Neat, and Update It Regularly
It’s important to have a neat homepage that’s easy to navigate. Setting up some categories is a plus to me because it makes it easier to find particular topics. Writing regularly helps too. You don’t have to write everyday, but make sure you at least try putting something new on your blog every few days or even just on the weekends if you work a lot.
3. Be Creative
The best blogs are always the ones that think outside the box. Every great blogger usually has a nice series of blog post that attract their core followers to them. I have my top 5 weekly Skyrim mods, top 5 weekly Fallout 4 mods, my hit or miss series, and more. Bloggers like Cheap Boss Attack has his It’s the freakin’ weekend series while Playlegit has their real talk, and unique review system going for them. Come up with something you love and make it your own.
The Nominees
I don’t have a list of 15 blogs to add so I’ll just put my favorites below. All of them are worth following and has some great content on their blogs.
You don’t have to feel pressured to respond to having your name mentioned above. It’s completely optional if you want to write a response to this or not :).
I would like to thank NekoJonez for nominating again and if you skipped the first two links I left up there just click here.

Blogging, and my family saved my life. I have no idea what I would be doing right now if I never met my wife and never started this blog.

Your advise is all sound. I would say patience is the most important aspect. Things won’t happen all of a sudden in most cases, so taking your time and allowing your blog to develop is crucial.

Feb 07, 2017 9:52 amPatience is the most important thing to have when starting out. When I first started blogging I got about 13 views a day. After a while it grew to 100, and now I get anywhere between 50,000-75000 a month.
