The Game News Bar – Death Stranding Release Date, Pokemon Sleep, The Witcher 3 on Switch, and More!

Spread the Word!

This edition of The Game News Bar is a big one. So pull up a chair, grab a beer, and get ready for some pretty big gaming news.

Team Sonic Racing Is Selling Really Well

Team Sonic Racing is doing really well right now. It doubled the launch sales of All-Star Sonic Racing and is the first Sonic game since 2008 to top the UK charts. It’s nice to see something positive on Sonic for once and I always thought that the Sonic Racing games were much better than Mario Kart. It sucks that our vehicles don’t transform this time around, but the team mechanics do look really neat and this game is only $40. You can’t beat that price.

The Witcher 3 Has Leaked Online For The Nintendo Switch

Taobao.com looks like a Chinese Amazon website from what I’ve seen. This site has leaked The Witcher 3 on the Nintendo Switch. They even included some box art for the game. It all seems really legit, but you never know these days. Another rumor suggests that The Witcher 3 will be running on some sort of cloud or on an upgraded version of the Switch. I would not mind whatsoever buying this game for the fourth time. The Witcher 3 is one of my all-time favorite video games and I’ll jump at any excuse to play this masterpiece again.

A Lot Of Nonsense About Pokemon

The Pokemon Direct yesterday was terrible. We’re getting a Pokemon Go Plus that tracks your sleeping habits. People have started calling it Pokemon Sleep. My question is when are we getting Pokemon Eat, Pokemon Shit, and Pokemon Sex? I’m down for that last one.

A new Pokemon game for smartphones is in the works. It’s called Pokemon Masters and it doesn’t look that bad. You can play as previous trainers from across every game and battle each other. That’s what I got from the trailer anyway. This is a phone game though so you can expect some heavy microtransactions.

The only good news that released, to me, was the Pokemon Home app that’ll be releasing on the app store some time next year. Pokemon Home is like the Pokemon Bank. I’m absolutely hyped for this because it was also announced that Pokemon Home will be able to trade with the Pokemon Bank. You’ll also be able to trade with Pokemon Go, Let’s Go, and Sword & Shield.

Bioware’s Silence on Anthem

It’s come to the point that people will rag on Bioware for not saying anything on Anthem. Then they’ll turn around and rag on them for whatever announcements they make on the game. This is a no win situation for them and I don’t blame them for the silence. This reminds me of what Hello Games did with No Man’s Sky. They locked themselves in their office and worked for the next few years on fixing their games and adding in everything they promised the game would have. Yes, Anthem needed more time to bake, but it didn’t happen. I’m pretty sure Bioware will have more for us at E3. Why make an announcement now if you have nothing to say?

Nioh 2 PS4 Alpha Test

Certain people will get to experience Nioh 2 on the PlayStation 4. You’ll get to alpha test the game and provide feedback is what I’m guessing. I liked the first game but didn’t love it. I’ll just wait for the PC port.

Fable 4 Leak

Is this really a leak? We all know that Playground Games is developing the next Fable game. I don’t think it’s going to be called Fable 4. That would be a mistake on their part because the original developers aren’t around anymore. Mixer has listed Fable 4 as a game. I mean… we all know this already right?

Monster Hunter World Introduces A New Gadget And Fighting Styles

It’s a great time to be a longsword user in Monster Hunter World. We already have a cool anime slash and now we’re getting some kind of counterattack. It looks like an ability. In addition to new longsword moves, we’re getting new stuff with the greatsword and a new gadget called Clutch Claw. The clutch claw allows us to grab a monster and temporarily mount them for heavy damage. You can even use your slinger to knock them into walls. It all looks really awesome and I can’t wait for the upcoming expansion.

Knights of the Old Republic Movie?

Knights of the Old Republic (also known as KOTOR) has been heavily rumored to be the next movie in Disney’s Star War films. The writer they chose has me a little worried. Laeta Kalogridis (Terminator Genisys, Pathfinder, etc) is the lead writer and I only like one movie that she’s ever written and that’s Shutter Island. That film was excellent, but everything else in her repertoire is mediocre at best. Is this going to be another girl power Star Wars film? Don’t fuck this up, Disney!

Roller Champions Is Ubisoft’s Answer To Rocket League?

A game called Roller Champions has been leaked and it’s being made by Ubisoft. Is this one of the 4 triple-A games that Ubisoft said was coming this fiscal year? It looks… decent I guess. I was never a big fan of Rocket League and from what I’ve seen on this it’ll be a hard miss for me.

Ubisoft Getting A Subscription Service Like EA?

A lot of stuff has leaked from Ubisoft lately. This leak suggests that Ubisoft is following the trend EA set by making their own subscription service called Ubisoft Pass. Maybe this pass isn’t a subscription service, but it sure seems like one right now. This appeared on Ubisoft’s own store so we know it’s legit.

Death Stranding Release Date Confirmed?

Hideo Kojima’s latest game is going to be shown off soon and if this leak is anything to go by it’ll be releasing this year on November 8th. We know next to nothing about this game. I’m interested to see what it is, but I’ll be going in with low expectations since I’m not a fan of Hideo Kojima games at all.

Cyberpunk 2077 Will Not Have Mod Support At Launch

CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will not have mod support at launch. The Witcher 3 didn’t have mod support either and that didn’t stop the modding community from creating their own content for the game. This won’t stop us from editing the game to our liking, but I understand why CD Projekt Red announced this ahead of time. They want to focus on releasing the game first and then worry about the smaller things later.

And that wraps up this edition of The Game News Bar. Thank you for joining me today to cover all things gaming. What piece of news has you excited? What did I miss? Let me know!
