The Game News Bar is back. After a short hiatus, I wanted to wait for video game news to ramp up again before starting this series up again. Nothing interesting ever happens in December or January so I decided to wait. I was sick all last month so I never got around to writing one for February. So… Welcome back to The Game News Bar. Have a seat, grab a beer, and get ready for a rundown of all of the latest game news that I’ve collected for this edition of The Game News Bar!
Twitch Streamer Banned For Firing His Weapon Live On Stream:
Guns are not toys. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen someone (both in real life and on TV) accidentally do something stupid with a gun. So I’ll type it again. Guns are not toys. They’re dangerous and should only be wielded under certain circumstances. Twitch Streamer, Carl Reimer, accidentally fired a shot into his monitor while on stream. He was intoxicated and did some stupid shit. The point is he shouldn’t have grabbed his gun, to begin with. Sober, drunk, whatever. It was stupid and his ban was deserved. I’m not sure if he deserves a lifetime ban, but I would let him think about his actions for a few months at least.
New Game Trailers!
Nioh 2, Fallout 76, and Total War Three Kingdoms all got new trailers showing off what you can expect in them. All of them are pretty nice so I recommend watching them.
I really like Fallout 76. I’ll type that again. I really like Fallout 76. It’s not a bad game despite what angry people will tell you. It’s in a place right now and some new content is right around the corner. This new trailer has me hyped to get back into the game. I might roll a new character. I’m not sure yet.
Nioh 2 is the game I’m least interested in on this list. The first game was alright I guess, but I never fell in love with it. Did it want to be Diablo or Dark Souls? The lore was interesting, the story was shit, and the gameplay was decent, but all I really remember about the first game is being utterly disappointed. Will the second one be any better? Who knows. I’ll wait for it to release on PC.
Total War: Three Kingdoms is brilliant. It was awarded my game of the year and this new expansion can’t get here fast enough. I’m ready to sink another 100 hours into the game.
Wolcen Lords of Mayhem Hits 1 Million Units Sold:
Wolcen had a rough launch and boy did the community let the developers hear about it. This small Indie studio should be commended for the work they’ve done here and I think the hate for this game was overblown. 1 million in sales is impressive. It’s even more impressive when you consider that this game is only at PC at the moment and that they achieved this is less than a month.
Fifa Streamer Banned From Ever Streaming Fifa Again:
Kurt0411 has been banned from ever streaming an EA game again on Twitch and honestly… the dude deserved it. EA said it had banned Mr. Fenech because he “continued to post abusive and threatening messages and videos about EA employees and competitive players on social media and has encouraged others to do so”.
Kurt0411 had this to say on the topic
“I accepted the initial account ban even though I deemed it harsh. But to then realise that the ban means I can never stream Fifa ever again is absolutely ridiculous and a clear abuse of power from EA.”
“I just gave my opinion – albeit harsh opinion – on everything EA has been doing wrong, but I guess in today’s world you can’t even give that,”
“The only explanation is I became too much of a threat to a company, which has an obligation to provide a decent football game for football fans worldwide but in the past few years has stopped caring about us and is only interested in making money.”
That last paragraph made me laugh. How are you, a Twitch streamer, a threat to a multibillion-dollar company? You can threaten people and show what they look like to your followers and then act surprised when they ban you. This dude is an idiot.
More Pokemon Hate:
Since Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX released a good minority of Pokemon haters have decided to drag Sword & Shield in the dirt some more by saying that Mystery Dungeon’s animations are better than the latest Pokemon games. And they even blamed GameFreak for the way Ekans looked in-game even though it was developed by Chunsoft. The new Mystery Dungeon hasn’t been review bombed (yet) like Sword & Shield was, but give them time. They’ll get there eventually.
And that’s all I got for you. I know there’s not a lot here, but sometimes that’s just how it is.
