Top 10 Worst Games of 2016

Spread the Word!

It’s that time of the year again! I’ve handpicked the worst pieces of shit that I’ve played this year and put them all together for my top 10 worst games of 2016!

10. The Dwarves

I really wanted to love this game. We finally got a game that had dwarves as the main heroes and it sucked. The gameplay is nice, but it has nothing else going for it. This game just proves that RTS games are a dying breed and probably won’t ever be taken seriously ever again.

9. Final Fantasy Explorers

I don’t want to include a Final Fantasy game in every one of my worst games of the year articles, but Square Enix has been making it really easy for me lately. Final Fantasy Explorers is nothing more than a Monster Hunter clone. A really bad Monster Hunter clone…

8. I Am Setsuna

I am Setsuna is your average JRPG. It was advertised as the next Chrono Trigger, but it pales in comparison to that game. I am Setsuna has a average story, bland characters, and good gameplay. It’s not worth $40.

7. Battleborn

My wife likes this game. We played about 30 hours together before I called it quits and wrote my review on it. Battleborn is a average game that Gearbox tried way too hard to imitate Borderlands 2 with. The majority of the characters are bland, and lifeless, the multiplayer sucks, and this game is really repetitive. At least the gameplay was good, but that wasn’t enough to save it from being placed on this list.

6. Overwatch

At least Battleborn has a story mode that I can enjoy with my wife. Overwatch is probably the most repetitive game on this list. I did not enjoy Overwatch at all. It’s just as boring as Battleborn and didn’t offer me much besides a decent lineup of characters. I have no idea how this game won game of the year…

5. Umbrella Corps

Umbrella Corps is Capcom’s attempt to destroy the Resident Evil franchise more than they already have. This game is complete trash. It plays likes shit, looks like shit, and Capcom should be ashamed of themselves for even thinking of this game. Who thought this was a good idea? I don’t have high expectations for Resident Evil 7, but it has to be better than this…

4. Bombshell

Bombshell was supposed to hit everyone’s nostalgia nerve and make everyone love the game. That didn’t happen because this game does almost nothing right. The voice acting is shit, the gameplay is shit, the story is shit, but at least the graphics are sort of nice :). This game gave me a headache while I was playing it and I recommend that you stay far, far away from it.

3. Black Desert

I had really high hopes for Black Desert. I was following it for over a year and I thought it was going to be one of the best games that released this year. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This game is a grindfest, pay to win, sloppy excuse of a MMO that only caters to people that like to AFK while doing something else with their day. Hopefully Lost Ark is good because I don’t think I can handle another disappointing MMO right now.

2. Mighty Number 9

This was supposed to be our new Megaman game. So what happened?! No one knows for sure, but it sure as hell isn’t Megaman. The developers tried to do too much with Mighty Number 9 and it suffered as a result. The graphics, gameplay. story, and main character was uncreative, lifeless, and boring. Can we just get another Megaman game please.

1. No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky was so bad I never bothered to finish. I wanted to review it, but couldn’t bring myself to play more than 15 hours before I rage quit. This game was falsely advertised and was sold to everyone for $60. The graphics are bad, the gameplay sucks, and the developers straight up lied about some features that weren’t in the game. Where’s the multiplayer? No Man’s Sky should be a lesson to other developers everywhere that you can’t lie your ass off and get away with it. I will not buy another game from this developer ever again.

I didn’t review this game, but you can find my first impression here.

No Man’s Sky wraps up my top 10 games of 2016. What are some of the worst games you’ve played this year?

Accurate list, those two at the top (bottom?) deserve to be where they are for disappointing people. To MN9’s credit, it wasn’t completely horrible, and I haven’t played No Man’s Sky but opinions sounded mixed from what I had heard. Regardless, it’s unfortunate that they didn’t live up to the expectations that people had for them.

I knew No Man’s Sky would be number 1 because of the missing features and lies that the devs told everyone leading up to it’s release.

MN9 was another huge disappointment to me because I don’t see the improvements that were made over it’s long development. It was pushed back multiple times and nothing changed. I’m not against a sequel though.

No Man’s Sky would probably get our “Destiny Award” for the year… there’s so much potential but it all hangs together rather badly. The update did add a lot more systems but they still really need to work on gluing it all into a cohesive game.
