Top 10 Zombie Games Of All Time

Spread the Word!

Zombie games are awesome and thankfully there are a ton of them for us to play. Some of them are mindless action games while others are survival horror ones. I’ve been into zombies since I first played Resident Evil back on the Gamecube. This is my top 10 zombie games of all time.

10. Dead Rising 3

Dead-Rising-3-Free-Download

Dead Rising 3 was incredibly flawed, but awesome game. This game would have been much higher on my list if it wasn’t for that time limit. I always felt like I was in a rush the entire time I played and that’s why it’s number 10 on my list.

What this game does have going for it is non stop action, and some pretty wicked customizing. I can literally make just about anything I can think of and that’s what keeps me coming back to Dead Rising 3.

9. Resident Evil HD

The remake to the Gamecube’s remake of Resident Evil took me back to my childhood. I loved every second of this game. Resident Evil got me into the zombie genre and it’s one of my all time favorite Resident Evil games. This isn’t the last time you’ll see a Resident Evil game on this list.

8.  Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a classic game that I put countless hours into as a child. The popularity of this game never died. Many people still play this game and you have to wonder if we’ll ever see a sequel or remake at some point. Zombies Ate My Neighbors is proof that games can still be fun many, many years later.

7. Dead Island [Series]

dead island

Dead Island puts us in a semi open world with nothing, but our hands, a lackluster story, and tons of zombies for us to kill in many different ways. These games had so much potential, but were always held back by some major flaws. That didn’t stop me from putting in my 100 hours before I was done with them though. The crafting, gameplay, and new game plus is enough to keep anyone busy for a long time. Don’t go in here expecting a great story or interesting characters and you’ll be fine.

6. Left 4 Dead [Series]

left-4-dead

I’m one of the many people that really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, but it’s not my all time favorite zombie game. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t awesome though. I still enjoy playing Left 4 Dead and you can’t help, but wonder why we never got a Left 4 Dead 3. This game still has tons of people playing it and everyone I know is patiently waiting for a third game to be announced. This is one zombie game that deserves another game. I’ll even settle for a remake at this point.

5. Zombie Army Trilogy

The Nazi Zombie games are some of my favorite games to play with friends. These games were exclusive to PC for years, but earlier this year the console crowd got a chance to see what this trilogy was all about. If you like shooting Nazis, and killing zombies you’ll love this game. If you want to kill Hitler as a zombie you’ll love these games. What more is there to say?

4. Resident Evil Zero

Resident Evil Zero

Resident Evil Zero is probably the most underrated game on this list. I think it suffered because it was only on the Gamecube and went to the Nintendo Wii much later. Resident Evil Zero introduced the partner system in Resident Evil it’s been a feature ever since. I can’t wait for the remake to come to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4

.

3. Plants Vs Zombies

No I didn’t make a mistake nor did I lose my mind by putting this on my list. Plants Vs Zombies is an amazing game. The game that started the franchise is number 3 on my list. Who would have thought that a game about a bunch of cute plants fighting off zombie hordes would be so much fun.

2. ZombiU

ZombiU-Gameplay-4

ZombiU is another really underrated zombie game. This game has everything that a great zombie game should have and more. It’s unique first person gameplay with the Wii U controller makes the game more immersive than any other game on this list. In ZombiU you only get one life. Once you die you’re forced to play as a completely different character and you have the choice to track down your old character and take your loot back.

ZombiU is a fantastic game and I’m sure it’ll surprise a lot of people once it comes to the new consoles and PC.

1. Resident Evil 5

7-2

Resident Evil 5 is not only the best zombie game I’ve ever played it’s also one of the best, if not the very best, co op game I’ve had the pleasure of playing with my friends. This game has an infinite amount of replayability and it’s a game I always find myself going back to whenever I want to play a good co op zombie game. I considered putting ZombiU in the top spot, but since it didn’t have multiplayer it lost, slightly, to Resident Evil 5.

Honorable Mentions

Dying Light – Dying Light is a really great zombie game that places us in a huge city and lets us do just about whatever we want while we survive the zombie horde, but it’s lack of a character creator, and emptiness kept me from putting it on my list of all time zombie games.

7 Days to Die is another open world, sandbox game that didn’t make my list because it still has way too many bugs and the game itself isn’t very fun to play, but I do recommend checking it out at some point if you’re ever bored and feel like playing a decent zombie game.

The market is over saturated with zombie stuff, but I must admit to enjoying Plants vs Zombies and Zombies Ate My Neighbours.

Not every zombie game is good, but I really enjoy zombie games when they’re done good.

That makes two of us! Deadlight is also worthy of a mention – it’s a different take on the zombie theme and I love the game’s atmosphere.

I’d definitely recommend it. If you get around to playing it sometime, let us know what you think. 🙂

Will do :]. Funny thing is I saw it for $4 the other day. I should probably look and see if it’s still there.

At the very least, the Typing Of The Dead proves that zombies can be both terrifying and educational. Read Next.
