Evolve Stage 2 Is No Longer Receiving Support From Turtle Rock Studios

Spread the Word!

Evolve is officially a dead IP. Turtle Rock has announced that they are no longer working on Evolve 2.0 because of contract negotiations with 2K.

When Evolve first went free to play it was averaging about 5 thousand players a day. That number has dwindled to just under a thousand a few months later. On a good day there would be 1,500 players on Evolve Stage 2, but that’s nowhere near the numbers that Turtle Rock, or should I say 2k, hoped to draw in to Evolve.

Evolve was a interesting idea that was poorly executed. I remember the hype surrounding this game before release and I remember telling everyone that I know that this game would flop. I didn’t see the appeal of it then and I don’t see it now.

Evolve has been a dying IP for months now. No one is playing it anymore and even though Turtle Rock tried to revive it by making it a free to play game not many people bothered to come back to it. 2K has officially ended Turtle Rock’s contract and has taken over Evolve Stage 2.

I doubt they’ll do anything with it because whatever they try will most likely fail. What does this mean for the Evolve fanbase? It means you’ll have to find another game to get into. Hoping that sinking ship won’t sink because you like it doesn’t mean that it won’t eventually sink guys.

Hopefully Turtle Rock will forget all about Evolve and work on something new… like Left for Dead 3.

Update:

There’s a petition for Turtle Rock Studios to finish work on Evolve. You can sign here if you want.

Cool ideas don’t always translate into good gameplay. Given how greedy they were with DLC I won’t shed tears over Evolve’s imminent death.

I agree. The DLC policy really fucked Evolve up. In order to get the full experience you would have to pay about $100 extra after buying the game for $60.

It’s a shame that Evolve didn’t turn out the way everyone was hoping. Keeping my fingers crossed this doesn’t also mean that there’s no chance to see a L4D3.

I don’t think Evolve’s failure will impact another Left for Dead unless they go crazy with their DLC policies again.
