Fable was a great series at one point. We were a hero, or villain, going out in the world and doing incredible things. Somewhere along the way that changed and Fable lost itself. Will it ever find itself again? Will Fable 4 ever happen or are we going to keep getting crappy spinoffs like Fable Legends?
My recent attempt to play Fable Legends only reinforced my opinion on the game. It sucks, and it’s not going to get any better any time soon. It’s heavy focus on multiplayer only pushes it further away from what Fable is, or should I say was because of how long ago it was that we got a true Fable game.
Fable 3 wasn’t a terrible game. I like it, and I don’t like it too. It’s good because it’s a Fable game and while it’s different then Fable 1, and 2 it still feels like a Fable game. That feeling is lost in Fable Legends. If there is a Fable 4 it could make or break the series. Can the series get more broken at this point?
Fable was always a funny, RPG that let us do a ton of different things in our playthrough. It let us make our playthrough our world and not many games have done that for me. That’s why I’m always on here bashing the hell out of Fable Legends because all I want at the end of the day is to run around with big ass horns murdering people, opening demon doors, listening the awesome soundtrack, and farting on people. That’s not much for me to ask for is it?
Fable 3 was released 5 years ago. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a core game in the Fable franchise and it looks like it’s going to be quite some time before we get another one. I don’t even know if I want another Fable game at this point. Since Peter Molyneux left Lionhead Studios it’s gone downhill. I can’t imagine how much they’ll fuck up a Fable 4 if they ever started working on one.
This is just one guy’s opinion though. I miss what Fable was… not what it’s become.
