Yoshi’s Woolly World First Impression

Spread the Word!

I finally got my hands on Yoshi’s Woolly World and it’s pretty fantastic so far.

Yoshi’s Woolly World is probably the most creative game to come out in recent memory. Who would have thought that playing with balls of yarn could be fun?

At the beginning of the game a evil wizard turns all of Yoshi’s friends into yarn and carries them away. It’s up to the two remaining Yoshi’s to save the day and get all of their friends back safe and sound. If you can collect all of collectables while you’re on a stage it’ll unlock a new Yoshi for you to play as.

LTB.1280x720I’ve been trying my best to 100% each stage so I can see every different Yoshi in the game. There are a ton of them to collect and so far I’ve only gotten about four of them. I’m still on world one because I literally just started playing the game this morning, but from what I’ve played so far this is one of the best games of the year by far.

The level design is excellent, the controls are great, the enemies are cute, and local co op is a blast. I can beat the crap out of Lunaliah whenever I want. It’s more then that though. We can team up and throw each other to some hard to reach locations to collect some hard to get items or knock enemies out. It’s fun, and very creative.

The graphics are really impressive. Everything is literally made out of yarn and it’s really colorful. Yoshi looks fantastic, and all of the enemies are designed very well. It’s also very refreshing from the usual stuff that Nintendo has been giving us lately. Right now I’m having a hard time getting off my Wii U. I’ve been ignoring everything because of how much fun I’m having with Lunaliah on this game.

I got this game when it first came out and I loved it! I also got a little yarn Yoshi amiibo to go with it. So cute!

I got this for $30 on ebay and so far it’s the best 30 bucks I’ve spent this year :].

Mine didn’t come with an Amibo though :[…

I’m a HUGE fan of Yoshi’s Island on SNES, but was sorely disappointed by New Island on 3DS. Glad to see they’ve righted the ship! Can’t wait to check this out.

I haven’t tried the new Yoshi’s Island yet, but so far this is the most creative game I’ve played this year. Every stage is unique and fun in some way. Unlocking new Yoshi’s is also really cool :].

It was extremely simple and dull overall. With little effort I beat the game in about 4 or 5 hours with 99 extra lives or something absurd. No creativity in the level designs. Very bare bones and basic, which is odd for Nintendo.

I’ve always liked Wooly World’s art style, but have yet to see it in action.
